Our work on the East wing of the ITD headquarters included remodeling 12,000 square feet and adding 5,600 square feet to the East end, as well as space planning for the three divisions that would move into the remodeled area. Among the challenges was a requirement to replace the electrical service to the computer room with no more than a 30 minute disruption to service and to incorporate phased construction allowing for continuous occupancy of the building throughout the project.
The West Wing remodel consisted of renovating 26,000 square feet to house five divisions. The facility remained occupied during several phases of this project as well. The building was originally built in the 1960’s and utilized building materials, such as gypsum block, which are currently unavailable. Through careful coordination, consideration of appropriate building materials, and innovative space planning, we successfully reconfigured the office layout to allow ITD to increase their staff size without adding square footage to this wing of the facility.
