BRS Architects was the designer of the original Boondocks Amusement Park and completed two major additions when it was purchased by Wahooz Family Fun Zone. These additions in 1998 and 2011 expanded the entertainment complex to include an arcade, interior amusement attractions, a restaurant and bar, and 24 lanes of bowling. In 2017, BRS Architects was once again brought on board to design the Galaxy Event Center. The 14,806 SF addition includes a banquet hall with movable partitions and a commercial grade catering kitchen, along with staff offices and facility storage. Portions of the existing building were also renovated to provide additional event space and dedicated restrooms, helping to create a modern and functional event center to anchor this entertainment complex.

Working with the owner and the general contractor (The Russel Corporation), BRS was able to review the existing entertainment complex and provide a master plan for how to phase the construction and additional renovation work to enable the business to remain operational during construction. Our understanding of building and life safety codes, as well as our extensive knowledge of construction standards for integrating new construction into existing buildings, helped our client maintain critical revenue without sacrificing quality design.

Through our proactive approach to managing the design team and effective collaboration we were able to successfully complete multiple phases of design and documentation for this complex addition to an existing 71,149 SF building.
