EAGLE CITY HALL EXPANSION
government | eagle, idaho
During the Spring of 2020, the City of Eagle reached out to BRS Architects to provide a schematic design that would expand upon their existing city hall. With the effects of COVID-19 on their employee workspace and a growing city population, the City of Eagle responded to the urgent need to increase their staff office space, while also providing a community space for the public. BRS Architects worked with the City of Eagle to help determine their expansion needs and developed a design that would blend seamlessly with the existing building. After getting the project through the entitlement process, BRS Architects competed during the open RFP process to continue forward on the project. BRS Architects was excited to have received the opportunity to work with the City of Eagle to complete such a notable Idaho project.
Having worked on the design development of the existing city hall, BRS Architects was well positioned to provide the City of Eagle design options that would work on the tight site. The existing city hall was completed in 2007 with the original design anticipating the possibility of a future expansion, however the additional scope of the 4,500 SF community hall added to the complexity of the project. The final design balanced the functional needs of the city staff with the accessibility and openness required of a community gathering space. Working with the general contractor throughout design development helped to ensure the project remained on budget, addressed key construction concerns, and that specified exterior materials would perfectly match the existing City Hall. The result of the combined effort of all teams involved is a City Hall Expansion that is seamless, where it is difficult to know where the existing building ends and the new addition begins.
