ARTS WEST ACADEMY

educational | eagle, idaho

BRS Architects worked closely with the school owners and the developer to design the Arts West Academy, a private educational facility for the performing and visual arts. This two story, 14,200 sq. ft. building serves as the site anchor building for the entire 16 acre Eagle Island Crossing mixed use development. A classical landscaped boulevard and round about not only provide an access spine for the development, they also create a view corridor from the adjacent highway to focus attention on this prominent school. It’s French Countryside architectural style works with City of Eagle’s historical design standards and sets the theme for other buildings in Eagle Island Crossing, including the adjacent 10,200 sq. ft. educational annex building.

The school incorporates classrooms, practice rooms, a dance studio and support spaces. A dramatic two story entry atrium connects the two floors and brings the stylized architectural theme to the interior. Special design considerations include sound isolation of practice rooms and incorporation of a high efficiency variable air volume HVAC system. The annex building also includes practice rooms and contains a multi-purpose space serving as a recital hall and cafeteria for shared use with the school. The two buildings are serviced by a common parking area and are interconnected by walkways to create a small campus feel for the academy.
